Abstract

ABSTRACT An Analysis of Moral Values in The Hunger Games Novel by Suzanne Collins Iis Sundari 16111067 Moral is a guide to action that is useful in regulating how to interact, including actions, behavior, and speech between human beings. Moral itself can be seen from the surrounding environment, as well as from several books such as novels. This study aims to mention the category of moral value and describe the form of moral value conveyed in The Hunger Games novel by Suzanne Collins. Moral values are found using the Universal Moral Values Theory by Kinnier et.al with four major moral values. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method for method. That is because the study focuses on analysis and explanation. The data source is taken from The Hunger Games novel by Suzanne Collins. the data is in the form of exposure to language that contains the main character's thoughts, attitudes, and behavior as the main character in dialogue, monologue, and narrative that occurs between the main character and other characters. The results of this study found several categories of moral values such as (1) Commitment to something greater than oneself (2) self-respect but with humbleness or respect to others, self-discipline, and acceptance of personal responsibility (3) Respect and caring for others. With the results of some of the morals described by the author, it can be useful for readers. The novel itself is expected to be a medium to explain moral values and help readers improve moral behavior.
