Abstract
As English teachers sometimes switch the language into Bahasa Indonesia while teaching, this paper looks into the function of code-switching used by English teachers in foreign language classroom at SMAN 1 Kalianda. To analyze the data, the writer applied functions of code-switching in foreign language classroom by Sert. In this research, the writer employed qualitative method while the data were collected through video recording one English teacher in a senior high school in Kalianda, Lampung, Indonesia. The findings show that all the function of code-switching proposed by Sert which consist of Topic switch, Affective function, and Repetitive function were used by the teacher during the teaching learning activities. The writer found that the teacher commonly used Bahasa Indonesia while teaching in order to make the discussion running well and there was no misunderstanding between the teacher and students.
