Abstract
he purpose of this study is to determine the improvement of reading comprehension of tenth-grade students at SMAN 7 Bandar Lampung after being taught through authentic materials. This research is a quantitative study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research subjects are the students of class X.7 at SMAN 7 Bandar Lampung that were selected purposively. To collect data, a reading test consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions was used that has been validated and tested for reliability. The data obtained were then analyzed using IBM SPSS version 27.00 which includes testing for normality and hypothesis testing based on the pre-test and post-test scores. The pre-test and post- test results show a significant difference. In the pre-test, the average student score was 61.71, with the lowest score at 50 and the highest at 78. The post-test results demonstrate an increase in the average student score to 88.51, with the lowest score at 76 and the highest at 100. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an improvement of reading comprehension of tenth-grade students at SMAN 7 Bandar Lampung after being taught through authentic materials.
