Abstract

ABSTRACT An Analysis of Character and Characterization in World War Z Novel by Max Brooks Yunita Sari 16111041 Characterization method is technique used by authors to create and develop character and the narrative story. Therefore, this study aims to examine the character and characterization in World War Z novel in the term of struggle to maintain their survival from deadly zombie with the objective in order to find out the main characters and characterization found in the novel. This thesis used Structuralism Approach and Shlomith Rimmon-Kennan’s Narratology on character and characterization as the main theory used to answer the research question. This study is descriptive qualitative study with typical library research. The data are in the form of text, narration, dialogues. The result of this study shows that there are 15 main characters found with different characterizations based on the penetration of inner life and the type of develop and non-develop characters.
