Abstract
This thesis describes the analysis of a literary work entitled The End of Manners by Francesca Marciano. The main purpose of this research is to reveal author’s view toward Afghanistan society as portrayed in The End of Manners by Francesca Marciano. The focuses of this study are analyzing author’s view toward Afghanistan society, it is about structural elements. The intrinsic element is the main characters of the novel. They are Maria Galante, Imo Glass, Hanif, Abdur Rahman, Malik, Zuleya, and Shirin. Furthermore, the setting of place is located in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Extrinsic elements that the writer analyzed are culture, tradition, and social condition and environment in Afghanistan as portrayed in The End of Manners. In this research the writer uses genetic structuralism approach from Lucien Goldman theory. In addition, this research applied qualitative research to depict clearly about the problem. The writer also conducted dialectical method in the context of data collecting process. The data came from dialogues and narrations about Afghanistan society in The End of Manners novel. Based on the findings, author’s view toward Afghanistan society are about disagreement upon never ending war, supporting the fact upon family protection, the sacrecy of afghan women, supporting the fact afghan is generous society, and social, culture, and tradition facts in Afghanistan. Based on the research conducted it can be concluded that Afghanistan always warmly welcome the foreigners and the way they treat their women is not always bad as well as world issue sharing about Afghanistan.
