Abstract

This study are focuses on compound words especially the agriculture terms found in Farmer’s Weekly magazine published on June 16th, 2017. The study is aimed at analyzing the types and the meaning of compound word. The researcher used qualitative method as the method of this research. To analyze the type and meaning of compound, the researcher uses Rochelle Lieber (2009) as the main theory. For the meaning the researcher uses Stephen Ullman (1962) theory. The data are in form of word. In collecting the data, the researcher uses documentation technique and the steps are find out the magazine, read the magazine and underline the words which contain of compound words. The results of this study show that there are 62 data found in the article. From 62 data divided into 46 attributive compound, 8 coordinative compound and 8 subordinative compound. in addition there are 39 endocentric and 23 exocentric. The researcher also classified the meaning of compound which has transparent and opaque meaning. The compounds meaning which have transparent meaning are 50 data and opaque meaning are 12 data.
