Abstract
In this research, the writer discussed about the main character in Orphan movie which is considered possessing psychopath or mental disorder and the writer also interested to finds out the reason of why the main character possessed mental disorder. In order to find out the answer of the research questions, this research conducts descriptive qualitative method. Further, the psychoanalysis approach and Cleckley’s theory (1976) is used to answer the research question about the characteristics of Esther’s psychopathic disorder. The writer also uses library research in order to collect the data. The result of the study shows that Esther as the main character is obsessed with psyche disorder. It can be seen from five different types of psychopathic behaviour. First, positive psychopath shows that although Esther is a person with mental disorder, but she is able to adapt just like normal people that can adjust and sociable to others. However, her negative psychopath shows that she cannot control her emotional (rage and anger) when she is upset. Esther is also considered as liar and she is not hesitated to kill whoever she hates. Finally, the psychopathic behavior of Esther also shown when she is act as the manipulator that makes the couple who adopt her fight each other almost every day. In addition, the writer also finds out that the cause of Esther’s psyche disorder is because of her hormone disorder (hypopituitarism) that makes her cannot control her emotional.
