Abstract

The research was conducted to find out the significant improvement of eleventh grade student’s reading comprehension at SMAN 12 Bandar Lampung after being taught through Short story in Reading comprehension. The research was conducted at one class of eleventh grade of SMAN 12 Bandar Lampung. The sample consisted of one class, namely class XI. KP 3-2, which was selected using purposive sampling technique. The research used quantitative method with a one-class pre-experimental design To collect the data reading using pre-test and post-test consisting 25 multiple choice questions were used. Then, data were analyzed using a normality test and paired sample test with the help of SPSS 29. The results showed a significant improvement in reading skill scores after being given treatment, the average student score on the pre-test was 52, while the average student score on the post-test was 100. The findings showed that the results after giving treatment showed higher results than before giving treatment. The result of paired sample t-test showed that alternative hypothesis is accepted which means there is improvement in student’s reading comprehension after being taught through Short story.
