Abstract

The idea of ecofeminism is the correlation between humans and nature. This study aims to reveal the ecofeminism value in selected soundtrack lyrics of Moana's movie. While the figures that were used as research objects consisted of female characters which are Moana and Gramma Tala in this song lyrics are the main object of this research. This research is essential because it aims to show the celebration of women in literary works in relation to the issue of nature. This research applied a qualitative method. The data source for this research was taken from the movie, Moana. The ecofeminist concept by Francoise De’eubonne reveals women's representation in literary work which is song lyrics in selected soundtracks in Moana's movie. Ecofeminism is a style of thought that combines feminism and environmental issues. Françoise d'Eaubonne, an American poet and activist, is often credited with coining the theory of ecofeminism and the term "ecofeminism" in her 1974 book "Le Féminisme ou la Mort". In his book, Françoise d'Eaubonne combines environmental issues with feminist issues, and he emphasizes that the domination of nature and the domination of women are related to each other. The research data was some significant expressions in the form of lyrics taken from the soundtracks in this movie. This study uses Sara Mills's theory with focuses on revealing women in literary works which is song lyrics. The results of this study uncover 14 data from 4 selected songs from the movie. From Sara Mill’s theory of perspective as well as the Ecofeminism from Françoise d'Eaubonne, the writer conclude that the selected song carries ecofeminism issue to the movie through the songs. In the end, the analysis reveals that the women show the correlation between humans and nature
