Abstract

This research aims to analyse plot elements in the novel "No Exit" by Taylor Adams using Gustav Freytag's theory. The development of the plot elements is identified and assessed using the descriptive qualitative analysis method. The research results show how each plot phase in the novel is integrated, forming a cohesive narrative structure, and illustrates the influence of Freytag's theory in story development. The researcher found that plot in Taylor Adams ?No Exit novel were contains exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. Plot in Taylor Adams ?No Exit novel was described through the structure of plot by Freytag‘s theory and it had consisted of exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. First, exposition in this novel was divided into three types that were characters, setting, and basic situation in the story. Second, rising action in this novel was divided into several types of conflict that. Third, climax in this novel there was the fight between Darby and the kidnappers in the rest area to save the little girl. Fourth, falling action in this novel had shown when Darby persistence, she has many ways to fight the kidnapper and Darby manage save the little girl. Last, resolution in this novel was contained by happy ending. The plot in the novel No Exit as an imaginative novel contributes to education. Before appreciated, because it is useful for human life. Through the novel, students can learn and implementing heroic actions such as being willing to do the best in every opportunity and challenge, willing to sacrifice, and take responsibility for everything she does. Apart from that, students can also learn that every decision has risks such as when Darby made a decision and she took responsibility to save the little girl
