Abstract

ABSTRACT Revealing Self-Harm of the main Character in the novel Willow by Julia Hoban Elis Febriyanti 18111010 This study examines a novel entitled Willow Novel which was released in 2010, this novel is used as the object of analysis. This novel focuses on the story of a 16 year old girl named Willow, Willow who experienced the death of both her parents which made her traumatized because she was driving the car that her parents were traveling in and an accident occurred and it killed both of her parents. causing him to self-harm. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive method to describe and explain the problem of Self-Harm from the main character Willow. the data taken in the form of narration and dialogue taken from the novel Willow. To analyze the Self-Harm of this novel, the writer uses factors from self-harm, characteristic self-harm and the last forms of self-harm. This study found that Willow exhibits Self-Harm actions. Willow's self-harm behavior is caused by various factors such as lack of communication, lack of affection, the expression of personal experiences is not well received, and does not care about oneself and the characteristics of self-harm described by the main character are Based on the personality of the perpetrator, Based on family environment, Based on social environment, and Willow hurt himself by Shredding the skin.
