Abstract
This study aim to define the frequent components and the ideational meaning that represent Soleimani assassination based on transitivity component found in Al-Jazeera and New York Post editorials. By defining the way of the editors in describing the issues through argumentative text, the researcher and readers able to understand and feel the experience written in editorials regarding to the current issues happened. Hence, the researcher uses qualitative research to define and describing each clause written. The data were six editorials from each newspapers. Furthermore, Al Jazeera and New York post has different resulted in process and participant component, but it has similarities in the circumstance element. In Al Jazeera editorials, the most dominant process is relational attribute within 45.5% occurrence and attaches with 22.2% of carrier and attribute. These editorials emerge the used of relational attribute process to ascribe something and give clear information related to something that being described and it used auxiliary verb such as (was, is, had, has, have, will)to give clear information to the reader. Meanwhile, in New York Post editorials, the most dominant process is material process within 48.1% occurrence and attach with 24% actor and 20.3% goal as dominant participants. These editorials engage the used of material process to express what the writer want to deliver through the action or a situation that happened through the use of action verb such as (killed, ordered, ended, attacking) to give an image to the reader. Then, circumstance types that are location in Al Jazeera has 56.2% occurrence while New York Post has 73.6% occurrence. These functioning as additional information that wants to share by the editors. By learning transitivity analysis, the reader tend to familiar with the language that used to deliver certain figure, especially in editorials that deals with argument and perception
