Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of Project Based Learning to improve students speaking skill of descriptive text in class XI of SMKN 2 Terbanggi Besar. The researcher use experimental research and quantitative research method. The population of this study was 36 students of class XI which was divided into 1 class. The research sample was selected used purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study was class XI TKJ 1. Futhermore, the researcher used pre-test and post-test as instruments in the study. In the research process, the researcher taught used the Project Based Learning method in taught Descriptive text to improvement their speaking skill. In addition, the researcher collected the data of this study by followed several steps included provided a pre-test, giving special treatment by provided Project-Based Learning and given a post-test exam at the end of the study. The data in this study will then be calculated used SPSS version26. The results of this study show that the average score of the class after being treated used the Project-Based Learning method has increased significantly. The average value of the pre-test in the class was 39,72 and the average value of the post-test was 76,19. Based on the previous data, the calculated t value is -18,569, with a significant value of 0.00. The paired mean between the pre-test and post-test was -36,472 with a standard deviation of 8.24.
