The data analysis technique for this research uses qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data was taken from the observation sheet. Quantitative data was taken from the reading test. The data is taken from the results carried out in two cycles. The tests given to students are in the form of a pre-test, post-test I in cycle I, and post-test II in cycle I, second cycle. Based on these data, there is an increase in reading comprehension students' ability to understand texts from each cycle. This can be seen from the pretest average being 38.14. Overall, it was in the "Fail" category, 60% (21 students). Thus, the increase in student scores from post-test 1 and post-test 2 is 20.93. The increase in student scores from pre-test to post-test 2 was 39.21. The data results show that students are more interested and motivated in understanding the text and are enthusiastic during the teaching and learning process through the THIEVES strategy. The students became more active and they seemed to enjoy working in class. It means that the results of this study show that the THIEVES strategy significantly improves students' reading comprehension in comprehending descriptive texts.
