Abstract

This research aims to analyze the archetype of the mother in the science fiction genre in the novel “The Silent Wife”. This novel examines the problem of how Jodi Brett as the main character in this novel deals with life situations as a psychotherapist. the great mother archetype represents the origin of all life in metaphor. It stands for the care and care that all living things require, with a focus on the main character of Jodi Brett. This study was conducted a nuanced exploration of how the protagonist embodies the essential attributes associated with the Great Mother archetype, encompassing qualities of maternal care, protection, and emotional depth. By examining the character's evolution and interactions, this analysis elucidates the role of the Great Mother as a narrative and psychological construct in the novel, shedding light on its influence in shaping character dynamics and thematic elements. The findings revealed this investigation contributes to a deeper understanding of the interplay between archetypal representations and contemporary fiction, offering a fresh perspective on the enduring significance of the Great Mother archetype in literature.
