Abstract

This research delves into the realm of magic realism as portrayed in Disney's Encanto. The objective is to comprehensively explore the interplay between reality and enchantment within the film by examining its various elements. By doing so, this study seeks to gain a deeper understanding of how magic realism contributes to the storytelling and aesthetic experience, thus shedding light on its significance within contemporary cinema. To achieve this objective, a qualitative research approach is employed. The primary data sources for this analysis are the visual imagery and the film script of Encanto. Through meticulous examination and interpretation, this research aims to unveil how the film integrates magical elements into everyday life, effectively blurring the lines between the mundane and the extraordinary. Furthermore, this study scrutinizes the narrative structure and character development, elucidating how magic realism enriches the storytelling, engages the audience, and adds depth to the cinematic experience. In conclusion, this research, focusing on Disney's Encanto through the lens of magic realism, has shed light on the film's captivating narrative and visual elements. By seamlessly blending magical and real-world elements, the film enhances its storytelling, allowing audiences to connect with its characters and themes on a profound level. This study underscores the significance of magic realism as a potent narrative technique in contemporary cinema, emphasizing its capacity to create immersive and thought-provoking cinematic experiences. Through this analysis, Encanto emerges as a compelling example of how magic realism can be harnessed to enrich storytelling and transcend the boundaries of the ordinary, offering a unique perspective on the intersection of the real and the magical in film
