Abstract

The Stockholm Syndrome as Seen in Mia Dennet’s Character in The Good Girl Novel by Mary Kubica Revi Aviani Pratiwi 18111049 This research aims to discuss the Stockholm Syndrome that was experienced by the character Mia Dennet's in Mary Kubica novel entitled The Good Girl (2014). The objectives of this study are to describe the depiction of Stockholm Syndrome suffered by Mia Dennet's and to find out the impact of stockholm syndrome toward the main character Mia Dennett. This research applied descriptive qualitative method to describe and explained the data. The researcher collected the main data in the form of dialogues, words, narration, and sentences from the main data resource, which is the novel The Good Girl (2014) by Mary Kubica. To supporting the main data, the researcher used the data taken from books, articles, and journal. This research used psychology literature as the approaches and to find the result, the researcher used Stockholm Syndrome theory by De Fabrique (2007).The theory helps researchers to describe the depiction of Stockholm syndrome and to find out the impacts of Stockholm Syndrome experienced by characters. The results of the analysis show that there is a depiction of Stockholm syndrome and the impact of depression, anxiety, and always suspicious experienced on Mia Dennett is evidence that Mia has Stockholm syndrome after the kidnapping and hostage-taking cases she experienced. Stockholm syndrome has a negative impact on the lives of victims, especially on their psychology. Keywords: De Fabrique Theory (2007), Depiction, Impacts, Stockholm Syndrome, The Good Girl Novel
