Abstract

SELF INDIVIDUATION ON THE MAIN CHARACTER IN GAIL HONEYMANS ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS COMPLETELY FINE NOVEL Ikali Wahyu 19111048 Self-individuation is viewed as a journey to discover oneself. Carl Jung developed the phrase "self-individuation" to describe a person's actualization in their effort to understand who they truly are. The central focus of Jung's psychology revolves around the idea of self-individuation. This study focuses on Eleanor Oliphant's character to portray the self individuation in Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine novel by Gail Honeyman on Carl Gustav Jungs archetypal theory. This study applied a qualitative research method to present the data analysis. As a result, the research's data take the shape of narrations and dialogues from Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine novel that depict the relevant research issue, individuation. The psychological approach in literature and the theory of Jungian Archetypal Theory is used to guide the analysis in this study. Throughout the journey of individuation, individuals will come to recognize the Self, which signifies the harmonious integration of conscious and unconscious aspects within their mind. The main character, Eleanor, demonstrates a deep awareness of the path that leads her to the Self and embraces it bravely as she progresses through the story. Therefore, through the analysis, Eleanor's journey and the individuation process share a lot of similarities. The portrayal of self-individuation in the novel entitled "Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine" is portrayed through the main character, Eleanor Oliphant's characteristics, such as occurrence in the second half of life, conscious decision-making and new way of life, lengthy and painful process, symbolic events and the meaning, and shift from ego to self
