Abstract

Word Formation Process in Sport and Wellness in Men�s Health Magazine Rizky Rinaldho 14111180 In this thesis, the researcher discusses about word formation process in the mass media which is magazine by using word formation that appears in the online Men�s Health Magazine. This case concern towards two aspects which are sport and wellness. This study aims to analyze and explain the process of word formation that occurs in the Men�s Health Magazine by applying Yule�s theory. The research was designed as a descriptive qualitative research.The sample of this research was sport and wellness terms found in eight articles in Men�s Health Magazine published on November 2021. There were 10 types of word formation by Yule (2010). The result of this study showed, there are 49 data of compounding, 39 data of derivation, 9 data of abbreviation, one datum of borrowing, and one datum of clipping. Therefore, it can be concluded that there are five of ten types of word formationsin the articles. Furthermore, there is no coinage, blending, conversion,backformation, and multiple processes found in the articles.
