Abstract
ABSTRACT An Analysis of Tenth-Grade Students’ Difficulties in Learning English at SMAN 1 Abung Pekurun Fitri Wulandari Paklang 18113015 This research aimed to, 1) find out what students' problems are when they are learning English, 2) the causes or factors of students' difficulties in learning English experienced by students, and 3) find out the strategies to solve the problemsfacingstudents difficulties in learning English. The qualitativemethod in terms of the case study wasused by the researcher in this research. Questionnaires and interviewswereused by the researcher. The participants of the study were 32 students of X IPA 3 at SMAN 1 Abung Pekurun. The research findings reveal that the students have difficulties in learning English, especially the four skills in English, in which reading skills have the highest score which means that 82.2% are challenged in reading skills. The teaching and learning process and the learning environment are the most prominent factors affecting students’ difficulties in learning English. It can be concluded that many students were still lacking the learning skills in English and were facing difficulties with English learning vocabulary. The strategy is for students can do by studying according to their learning style and change their study habits.
