Abstract

ABSTRACT Hegemonic Masculinities Reflected in C.S. Lewis’s, Narnia, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Novel Annissa Ul Husna 18111093 Men in society have a dominant role as the society has supported the position. The condition is considered normal in society when men can have a more dominant role than women. This study aims to analyze male domination over women, men, or other groups of people in the novel entitled The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis Novel. The writer delineates hegemonic masculinity practice from the character inside the novel. This research applied qualitative method and hegemonic masculinity theory by R.W Connell. This research analyzed the characters in C.S. Lewis Narnia, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe that represent hegemonic masculinity. The data source of this study was Narnia, the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Novel. The data were narration and dialogue from the novel. The result of this study shows there are many actions of hegemonic masculinity that are done by the characters. The novel articulates Peter's domination and authority toward her sister’s position. Peter is the oldest and he has the role to control his family, Edmund control over Lucy, Aslan domination over characters in the story could influence other characters or the people in the story to obey all the words he said
