Abstract
This study aims to answer the question of how the perception of class XI SMA AlHuda teachers towards the WhatsApp application as an online learning medium. And the purpose of this study was to determine the teacher's perception of the WhatsApp application as an online learning medium for class XI students of SMA Al-Huda Jati Mulyo. This study used a qualitative research design. Researchers collected data through questionnaires and interviews. The participants of this study were English teachers from SMA Al-Huda Jati Mulyo. Online learning is a new challenge for teachers so that the teaching and learning process can run well. Teachers must be more active and creative in this online learning process. The findings of this study are that the WhatsApp application has advantages and disadvantages as an online learning medium today. The advantage of the WhatsApp application is that it has features that teachers can use for online learning, besides the WhatsApp application is a simple medium that not only teachers but all students can use easily. However, WhatsApp also has drawbacks such as not being able to send files that are too large. Because WhatsApp has a limit on the size of files that can be sent, it makes it difficult for teachers to provide material to students. In addition, the internet connection is an obstacle in the online learning process because WhatsApp must use a stable internet network so that teachers and students can carry out the learning process and there are still many students who are less active in the forum.
