Abstract

Baysa Deni 13111090 Drama is one of the types of literature that is different with poetry or narrative. Usually, drama is written to be performed on the stage. When it is performed, the dramatic texts will change into another medium, called theatre. This research aims to discuss further one of the elements of theatre, which is setting. Setting is really significant in determining the way the drama is performed. Thus, to discuss the setting element further, a performance of Oedipus Rex that is performed by Apollo Arts is used as the object of analysis. This research used descriptive qualitative method in presenting the data. It is used because this research focused on the nature of specific study, which is the element of setting. Library research method is also used to support the researcher in gaining the data. The data is the setting that was seen in Oedipus Rex Drama Performance that was produced by Apollo Arts in 2018. The theories of space, world scenery, setting and characterization, and symbolic space were used to help the researcher conducting the analysis. The result of this research revealed that there are four elements of drama performance of Oedipus the King which is performed by the Apollo Art theatre. The elements that are found by the writer in the story include space, world scenery, setting and characterization, and symbolic space.
