Abstract

Psychopath is another term for antisocial personality disorder, which is a personality disorder that usually continuously performs antisocial behavior, ignores and violates the rights of others. These abnormal behaviors of psychopath tend to produce violence and negative impact. Thus, this research aims to analyze psychopathic symptoms and its effect on Emma’s character in The Bad Seed movie (2018). This research used descriptive qualitative method with library research which the data are in the form of quotation of dialogues. The primary data source is The Bad Seed movie (2018). This research used psychology of literature as the approach and used Hare psychopathic theory. The result of this research show the movie portrays psychopathic symptoms on Emma character; that are indicated through the five symptoms; lack of empathy, anti-social behavior, manipulative, impulsive, and superficial. Psychopathic symptoms also create effect of violence, manipulative, and domination. Therefore, the turns out Emma lives alone without family and friends because she makes all people disappear from her life. Keywords: Psychopath, Psychopathic Symptoms, The Bad Seed Movie.
