Abstract

This research discusses about the life portrayal of Louisa May Alcott in her novel Little Women. In this research, the writer discusses about the life portrayal of Louisa May Alcott in her adolescent life consist of Louisa’s family, sister, personality and hobby. Louisa May Alcott is one of best-selling novelist of the late 1800s, and many of her work, most notably Little Women. The method used is descriptive qualitative method by describing and analyzing data. The data collect from Louisa May Alcott: A Personal Biography by Susan Cheever, and also from the internet, journal, book and thesis. In analyzing this research the writer uses autobiography approach from Jayaannapurna (2017) and women autobiography theory from Jelinek (1986). Women autobiography focuses on their personal lives, rather than on board historical or public issues of their times. Secondly, women use irony, humor, understatement, and a straightforward style, rather than the idealized. The third the structure of women’s autobiographies is rarely chronological. Data in the analysis are about Alcott’s family, her sister, her personality and her hobby to become a writer.
